electric service underground specifications construction installation

PES will furnish or provide underground primary and secondary distribution facilities subject to the following requirements:

A.    Developer or owner shall be responsible for all ditching and backfilling associated with the installation of underground primary and secondary distribution lines.

B.    All underground primary and secondary distribution lines installed by PES shall be in conduit.  Developer or owner shall provide and install the complete conduit system for the underground primary and secondary cables.

PES will not furnish or provide underground electrical services or secondaries for non-residential customers.

A.    All underground services and secondaries shall be furnished and installed by the developer or owner in accordance with all applicable codes except that the minimum depth shall not be less than 30 inches below final grade.  All underground material installed by the developer or owner shall be inspected by the State of Tennessee Electrical Inspector prior to backfilling.

PES will provide single-phase underground electrical service to new residences subject to the following requirements:

A.    PES shall be consulted prior to construction of service to determine the proper meter location and routing of the underground service.  All services shall be installed in conduit.  Ninety degree bends shall not be allowed in the below-grade portion of the conduit installation with the exception of installations at the meter base, pole or pad-mounted transformer.
